OFFERING LOW-COST BOARDING, GROOMING AND TRAINING FOR YOUR PETS

 

The Hocking College Canine Boarding and Grooming Facility is the perfect place to bring your furry friend for a head-to-paw experience that will leave them ready to impress their furry friends at the dog park. All of our guests receive care and supervision from a licensed veterinary technician, NDGAA  certified groomer and CPDT-KA certified  trainer with more than 30 years of experience. The facility also serves as a live learning lab for our Canine Assisted Services and canine certificate students. All students working in this facility have completed  course work, including Animal Grooming & Styling I and Pet First Aid, and are supervised by the facility's  experienced and professional staff. Our grooming and boarding services are available to dogs and cats.

GROOMING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DOGS

Mandatory: parvo, rabies, and distemper 

Recommended: Bordetella ( given at least 3-4 weeks prior to visit) and fecal exam (every 12 months).  

CATS

Mandatory: Feline FVRCP (1 or 3 years) and rabies (1-3 years).

Recommended: Feline leukemia testing as well as vaccine and fecal exam.

 

*If your veterinarian has concerns about giving certain vaccines, change in vaccine protocol or titers will be accepted but need to be disclosed at the time of making an appointment. Heartworm prevention and testing are recommended on all pets.

It is required that pets be on a veterinary-approved flea or flea and tick medication applied or given 48-72 hours before your pet's appointment.

Expect a minimum of 3-4 hours for groom times with a maximum of 6 hours.

Services are provided by Hocking college students who are grooming certification class. They are supervised by experienced certified grooming professionals.

Bathing and other individual grooming services are offered (for additional fees) Monday through Friday during your pet’s stay. We are currently booking 4 months in advance.  To ensure a FULL groom, please make arrangements at least 8 weeks in advance. Grooming on the day you plan to pick up your pet could change your pick up time.

All pets must be on a veterinary-approved flea and tick medication 48-72 hours before your pet's stay (ex. Advantix, Simparica, Nexguard, Braveto).

DOGS

All vaccines must be up to date 3-4 weeks prior to your pet's visit and you must provide documentation from a veterinarian and fecal results noted.

Check-in and pick-up times are at scheduled appointment times set in advance. If you cannot meet these times, please let us know.

All food, treats, and medications must be brought by the owner so as not to cause any dietary change or intestinal upset during your pet's stay. We recommend that you bring an extra 2-3-day supply in case your pick up time is delayed.

Be sure to bring your pet’s favorite chew, enrichment and interactive toys.

It is not necessary to bring bowls for food or water; they are supplied.

We have Kuranda elevated beds, gel foam beds for each pet, but if you prefer, you may bring a bed from home.

We clean your pet's cage several times a day and more if needed.

We'll treat your pets with the same love and care as if they were our own. Your dogs will receive plenty of exercise and play, several times a day for no additional fee.

All animals receive care and supervision by a licensed veterinary technician and certified pet trainer in addition to student workers from the Canine Assisted Services program.

If your veterinarian has concerns about certain vaccines, age of pet and health concerns about your pet, change in vaccine protocol or titers, exceptions will be at our discretion. Heartworm prevention and testing are recommended on all pets.

The kennels are private indoor spaces with state-of-the-art design for privacy, comfort, cleanliness and safety.

The kennel is designed with colors that are soothing and calming to pets.

The indoor area is temperature-controlled, ventilated and no pets will be outside unattended.  All outside time will be with human supervision to encourage potty breaks, play and exercise.

Housemates get playtime together outside.

If you are nervous about boarding for the first time, we recommend a trial experience for your pet as a day guest. Through this, your pet will become accustomed to the way we operate before your extended leave, and they will feel relaxed and comfortable during their stay.

Grooming services are offered Monday through Friday during your pet’s stay or on the day of release for additional fees. Grooming on the day you plan to pick up your pet could change your pick up time.

Check-in and pick-up times are at scheduled in advance. These times are from 9-10 am, 1-2 pm and 5-6 pm. Please call us today to schedule your pet's stay. If you cannot meet these times, please let us know by calling us at 740-300-5056.

TRAINING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes! Daycare with Training is an option for all dogs and puppies.

All dogs and puppies receive individual attention and training throughout the day. We work on basic manners and socialization skills to prepare your pet for life experiences to help your pet and you have a better relationship.

The American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test (CGC) is a certification program that evaluates dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere.

Canine CGC evaluations are $15. This will be set up as an individual appointment. In addition, the American Kennel Club will charge a fee to process your test form and provide a final certificate and a tag.
