FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If your veterinarian has concerns about giving certain vaccines, changes in vaccine protocol or titers may be accepted but need to be disclosed at the time of making an appointment with a note from your veterinarian. Heartworm prevention and testing are recommended on all pets.

For the health and safety of our staff, your pet and your family, a current fecal exam is required. Fecal testing detects hidden intestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, Whipworms, Giardia, and Coccidia, which can cause diarrhea, discomfort, serious illness, and in some cases can be transmitted to humans. Because these parasites are microscopic and not always visible in stool, regular testing is essential for early detection, spreading of and proper treatment.

Some parasites are not eliminated by routine preventative medications or may be resistant to standard dosing. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Companion Animal Parasite Council recommend fecal exams every six months, and at minimum once every 12 months, to ensure ongoing protection and overall health.

Appointments are made to ensure every owner and  pet receives the time, attention, and care they deserve in a calm and organized environment. Scheduled appointments allow us to plan appropriate staffing, reduce wait times, minimize stress for pets, and tailor services to each animal’s individual needs.

By using appointments, we can maintain a safe, low-stress experience, provide high-quality care, and ensure that grooming, boarding, or other services are completed thoughtfully rather than rushed—helping every owner and pet have a positive and enjoyable visit.

Services are provided by Hocking college students who are grooming certification class. They are supervised by experienced certified grooming professionals.

Bathing and other individual grooming services are offered (for additional fees) Monday through Friday during your pet’s stay. We are currently booking 4 months in advance. To ensure a FULL groom, please make arrangements at least 8 weeks in advance. Grooming on the day you plan to pick up your pet could change your pick up time.

All food, treats, and medications must be brought by the owner so as not to cause any dietary change or intestinal upset during your pet's stay. We recommend that you bring an extra 2-3-day supply in case your pick up time is delayed.

Be sure to bring your pet’s favorite chew, enrichment and interactive toys.

It is not necessary to bring bowls for food or water; they are supplied.

We have Kuranda elevated beds, gel foam beds for each pet, but if you prefer, you may bring a bed from home, but we do not guarantee items will not get damaged in the wash or chewed by your pet.

We'll treat your pets with the same love and care as if they were our own. Your pets will receive human interaction and “out of housing” time, several times a day. There are options for additional time for training, TLC or exercise for an additional fee.

All animals receive care by Hocking College Canine Assisted Services students who are trained and supervised by a licensed veterinary technician, certified pet trainers and certified groomers.

The kennels are private indoor spaces with state-of-the-art design for privacy, comfort, cleanliness and safety.

The kennel is designed with colors that are soothing and calming to pets.

The indoor area is temperature-controlled, ventilated and no pets will be outside unattended.  All outside time will be with human supervision to encourage potty breaks, play and exercise.

Housemates get playtime together outside.

It’s completely normal to feel nervous about boarding your pet for the first time. To help ease this transition, we require a trial experience as a day guest before overnight boarding. This allows your pet to become familiar with our facility, routines, staff, and environment ahead of time. By introducing boarding gradually, we help ensure your pet feels comfortable, confident, and relaxed and can make adjustments before their stay to ensure a positive and stress-free experience for all.

Check-in and pick-up times are by appointment only. These appointment times are  9-10 am, 1-2 pm and 4-5 pm routinely, but we will make accommodations if your travel times are delayed or changed.

Yes! Daycare with training is an option for all dogs and puppies.

All dogs and puppies receive individualized attention and structured training throughout the day. We focus on basic manners, confidence building, and appropriate socialization to support positive life experiences and everyday success. Our goal is to help your pet develop skills that strengthen their behavior, build trust, and create a more rewarding relationship between you and your dog.

The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) evaluation is a nationally recognized certification that assesses a dog’s behavior and manners in everyday situations. Conducted in a calm, non-competitive setting, the CGC evaluates skills such as polite greeting, loose-leash walking, basic obedience, and appropriate responses to distractions—promoting responsible pet ownership and well-mannered canine companions.

Canine CGC evaluations are $25.
